FAQ
Common questions.
How long does a Valet pack last?
A 60g Valet pack typically lasts 3 to 6 months. Lifespan depends on how often you open your humidor, your local ambient humidity, and the size of your container. A pack that feels hard and has no give has reached the end of its life and should be replaced.
What RH level is right for me?
It depends on your storage container and personal preference. The 65% pack is favored by purists and long-term agers who want a dry, Cuban-style profile. The 69% pack is the most versatile, and a solid everyday choice for most collectors. The 72% pack is best for recovering dry cigars or for wood humidors in low-humidity climates. The 75% pack is designed for drafty humidors or extreme dry environments. The 84% is a seasoning-only pack and not for ongoing storage. See the full system.
How many packs do I need?
Use one 60g pack for every 25 cigars your container can hold. This is based on container volume, not how many cigars are actually inside. A humidor sized for 50 cigars needs two packs, even if it's only half full.
What's the difference between the 60g and 8g packs?
The 60g pack is for standard desktop humidors, tupperdors, and larger storage containers sized for up to 25 cigars. The 8g pack is sized for small travel cases, individual cigar tubes, and single-stick holders. Because Valet packs work in both directions, a 60g pack in a small travel case will not over-humidify your cigars. It will reach equilibrium and hold there. That said, using the right size for your container is better for pack efficiency and lifespan.
Do I need to do anything before putting the pack in?
No. Remove the pack from its packaging and place it in your humidor. Do not tear open, soak, or activate it. The pack starts working immediately on contact with the air inside your container.
Will the actual RH in my humidor match the pack's rating exactly?
Not necessarily. The rated RH is the equilibrium target the pack holds to, but the actual reading in your container depends on your container type, local ambient humidity, and how often the humidor is opened. A wood humidor with cedar lining will typically read a few points lower than a plastic container using the same pack. See how each container type affects your RH.
